Capps Indian Trade Blanket- "Arapahoe Arrowhead" -SOLD(Item: B-874)
Offering this fantastic hard to find Capps Banded Arapahoe Arrowhead Robe pattern Indian trade blanket from 1913. This is one of the earler trade blankets that has survived quite well. Colors of green, brown, yellow and wine. This is a wool blanket and has the original more unusual brown felt binding. The blanket still has the original label, although not very readable as shown. This is the 2nd of the Capps labels in terms of dating this blanket and it is also mentioned in the book, Still Chasing Rainbows by Barry Friedman on page 13, where a similar blanket is featured that this blanket pattern was in the 1913 catalog. The condition of the blanket is excellent with only some slight wear on some of the binding on more so one end, as shown. There's a blanket similar to this on page 85 in the book Language of the Robe by Bob Kapoun. This is a great collectors blanket and displays well and has that attractive less complex Capps design. The J Capps and Sons Woolen Mills Company which was located in Jacksonville, Illinois, is no longer in business.
