Cindy's Antique Quilts

Mexican Rose Variation Trapunto- Sawtooth Border SOLD
(Item: Q-769)This early red and green Mexican Rose Variation quilt is selling in "as is" condition. It has the most wonderful quilting stitches and the pattern and border really add to the interest in this quilt. There is stuffed work/trapunto in the red petals and the vines. Lots of work went into making this early beauty. Actually the quilt is very sound, with wear mainly in the red fabrics as the fabric used just did not hold up , as the ground is very good with just a couple of spots and the green fabric has no wear. There is some what looks to be light water spots. The neat original binding is in great shape. Someone at some time replaced some of the red fabric on the red applique, as shown, but with TLC, could be restored with the correct soft/faded red of the time or even some faded reproduction fabric. The quilt could also be enjoyed as it is knowing that someone over 150 years ago made this quilt with skilled hands and care. The hand quilting is very well done at 10 spi. There are 16 blocks that make up the quilt with an interesting pattern. Lots of pictures to examine and enjoy and decide if this quilt is right for you. The quilt came from a Massachusetts estate.
