Baltimore Maryland Signature Quilt- Broderie Perse SOLD

(Item: Q-677)

This is an important quilt to collectors and those with serious interest in collecting signature quilts or those from Baltimore, Maryland. There is no question as to where is was made, as there are many signatures,  it is dated July 1847 and also on the quilt in the blocks is Baltimore. The quilt although, not a typical Baltimore Album, might be considered one just prior to that time of those quilts as it is really earlier than the Baltimore Album quilts. It also has a wonderful border and the addition of the original separate fringe, add to the quality of this quilt. The fabrics are wonderful with some chintz and cottons used in the applique.  The quilt is in excellent condition and has never been washed. It is hand quilted and hand appliqued. It is a true antique in every sense of the word,, and one that would be admired and appreciated. These quilts don't come along every day, as they often end up in collections or musuems.   Serious inquiries please. ( more information coming)
